The Gelato Shop

We have a Friday tradition of going to this cute little gelato shop in Hiroo (where Maurielle's school is located) called Napoli. The gelato is delicious and I am not allergic to most of it which is good!!! In this photo Maurielle and Emma (a school and church buddy) are trying to decide which delicious flavor to choose.

I recommended they avoid the green tea, soy bean and, as appealing as the dark red one might look, I told them to stay away from the red bean gelato! Maybe it's just me but...

This delectable looking gelato (purple makes you think berry right???) is actually sweet potato! Perhaps I should be more adventurous but potato and icecream have never seemed like a happy combo to me.

Maurielle and I once purchased an ice cream cone from a vending machine (they have vending machines for all kinds of things here). We thought it was mint and were surprised to discover that no, it was green tea. In fact, if you find green ice cream it is almost always green tea flavored here in Japan!
I quickly informed them that I didn't think they would enjoy the Parmigiano gelato because it has flecks of parmigian cheese in it! I actually got up the gumption to sample it... Interesting...

Safe rather than sorry... Maurielle chose the soft serve chocolate and vanilla swirl...

Yes, this is soy bean gelato!

FYI, the price card. I have to point to the picture when I place my order. It can be a little complicated to order Italian named foods to women who only speak Japanese. When I am in a splurging mood I order the doulbe flavor cup. I know, big spender...

Hollis and I are enjoying our favorite weekly tradition, gelato. Really, if you are going to have a tradition it may as well involve ice cream or chocolate, or both together which is what I normally choose, ciocolatta! Delicioso :).
